DA: One killed in New Bedford shooting, suspect shot at police before arrest

https://turnto10.com/news/local/shoo...-2-to-hospital

"NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WJAR) — A Mattapoisett man is facing several charges after a deadly shooting in New Bedford Friday.
The Bristol County District Attorney's Office said New Bedford police responded to several 911 calls for a shooting on Lafrance Street just before 10:30 a.m.
When police arrived, they found one man suffering from a gunshot wound and he was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital. The victim, Angel Cruz, 40, was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.
Police said a second victim, a 32-year-old New Bedford man, tried to drive himself to the hospital, but crashed in the area of Linden and County streets. That man is in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital."

New Bedford would be a rough place to be a cop. But they make the same amount as a cop in Hingham.

Scary. It seems like the younger generation is pretty trigger happy when it comes to shooting at cops.

I’m wondering if redplum33 has ever actually been to Weld Square? I use the butcher at Giammalvo’s Market a block from it occasionally. It’s fine during the day but I wouldn’t venture into that neighborhood at night. That’s the heroin capital of North America and that dates back to the 1960s.

But listen ... if you adjust for income, ESL students, and frequency of Naloxan treatments ... then New Bedford schools are as good as any metro-west town.
