. The 2 things we noticed about people in the U.P. were people ACTUALLY SMILED and said HI!!! And, didn't always have a cellphone attached to their head! Not to mention, we only heard ONE car with the bass so loud you couldn't hear yourself think and that was in the Soo. The Soo, for us, is out of the question. I can't remember the posters name but, they were absolutely correct when they said the Soo is a close-minded, wannabe big city. I was absolutely SHOCKED when a motorist honked at me and flipped me off for driving the speed limit! LOL. .....Our main concern is jobs (of course).
I haven't been all over the UP, but there are quite a few people with cellphones attached to their head at all times here. The Soo is a miserable place to live if you are not retired. There is nothing to do for recreation, unless you are an out doors person (hunting, fishing, snow mobiling, none of which do anything for me). There is no decent shopping (even in Canada. The mall over there is better than what we got, but the exchange rate is terrible and everything is expensive) Worst of all, if you can find a job that is full time, they pay you peanuts and think they are being generous, expect perfection and the benefits are crappy!

I hope you find what you are looking in the UP, but the first chance I get (and I have been desperately looking) to get out of here I am going to take it!
