Kinda like Redford by the lake. It's been over 10 years since I've been downtown; wonderin' out loud what it's like now.....

Saginaw used to be a great 'lil town.

America USED to be a great country, and we better start caring!

Unbelievable. Wake up people! This is the perfect storm for liberal progressive socialists to take over and govern. We are living through the left's execution of FDR's "Great Society" plan. A society full of big gov't entitlement and wealth re-distribution. We are one step closer to a one world government, where gov't programs will be used to control the population and every aspects of our life. Next up - Gov't control health care. They've already succeeded in dumbing down the population through our horrendous educational system. Now they will make your health decisions and control your life expectancy. It's all part of the master plan to eradicate and control population growth. They are obsessed with big gov't, wealth re-distribution, big social entitlement programs, population dependence, high taxes, high unemployment, single payor health care, global warming, carbon footprint, destruction of capitalism. This is just the beginning of their eventual "One World Order" agenda.

This will never end until people rise up, and stop gov't intrusion into every aspects of the private sector. DC is a runaway train, on course for total destruction of the U.S. While our brave young men and women are dying and fighting terrorism overseas, we have our own homegrown destroying the very fabric and foundation of this great country. I speak frankly of this, for I have seen it all before. I have lived through it many years ago. America is my adopted country. I'm proud to be an American. I'm sadden by what is happening, and I weep for all my fellow immigrants who came here in search of living the American dream.

Please wake up people and take back our country. Throw all of them out in 2010 and 2012.

-----And yes, I say Merry Christmas-----

Very well said, you are an informed patriot. If more people thought like you we would not be in the position we are today. We are falling into tyranny, and the people seem willing to let it happen. A soviet army was never needed to bring socialism to our shores, we have done it ourselves. When will we wake up???

A democratic society cannot survive when the majority don't pay taxes but are able to vote themselves benefits at the expense of those who do. I believe we are near that point or have passed it. A lot of people believe their social security tax is an income tax and expect money back from their tax return when they didn't pay any tax and our critters in Congress make it happen in the name of "fairness". The non-taxpaying citizens will continue to demand more and more since they're not paying for it. They see government as nothing more than the entity which gives them free stuff. That's how socialism takes hold.

For the sake of future generations, 50%+ of American work force should be on permanent unemployment providing basics and occasional strip entertainment. It's way, way, way more wise than employing those 50% to produce unessential, superfluous, silly, insane products & "services" gobbling up the remnants of resources and sanity.

USA today small business "success" story: a latino woman grew her one woman business manufacturing "patriotic" cell phone covers into 1 million dollar business employing a few dozens of people. Could we survive without "patriotic" cell phone covers? Sure we could survive just fine without any sacrifice of anything. The most patriotic thing to do would be permanent welfare for those employed in patriotic cover business. No waste, less energy and resource consumption, less rush hour congestion. Actually, we would be BETTER OFF to pay those people not to work. Did I mention Las Vegas? Want to do something patriotic? Want to do something future generations will remember? Lobby for resettlement of Las Vegas dwellers, $50,000/year for each for life.

Our survival anxiety just blinds us to the fact that our economy is a mixture of suicidal wishes and absurd.

First, democratic society is a fiction. USA is way more oligarchical than democratic in the "by the people" and "for the people" sense. So there is nothing to survive. Second, majority don't pay much in taxes because tax paying minority expropriated their share of wealth&power even before they were born by creating exploitative system enabling the very same minority to rule over majority (and pay all those "big" taxes).

Well, we're actually a democratic republic. Unfortunately, this makes it just that much easier for the non-tax-payers to vote themselves benefits. We have one political party -- the Democratic party -- dedicated to promising more and more government and the other party -- the Republican party -- too incompetent or corrupt to stop it. So, once we get more than 50% or greater not paying -- the Democratic party should be in power until the government collapses.

It might surprise you that I do agree that the deck is now stacked against the middle class. I just think its more of a recent phenomenon that started when globalism took the place of nationalism.
