Per that source, I don't understand how Minnesota -- one of THE best states for public schooling -- has its best high school (Edina) ranked only 197th nationally. Where are all of these supposedly better schools, and are they public-only? I'll have to dig a bit deeper on that resource.

I'm 32 btw.
I agree there are different ways to look at what a "good" school is other than test scores & it's nice to see SLP make this list, but it's still the first time I've ever heard anyone say that SLP was among the elite schools in the state. I certainly don't think it's a bad district, but I feel about SLP schools, the same way I feel about most city public schools, or other entry level suburbs: If your kid is in the demographic that's achieving & you're an actively involved parent, your kid will do very well & there are no limitations to their education. That said, it's still not a "send them off and forget about it", squeaky clean suburban school, where everyone's heading off to college afterwards like the wealthier, more prestigious schools like Edina, Wayzata, Minnetonka.

If you're 32 then there is probably a perception difference. When I was in High School/20-something, hanging out in SLP & with people from SLP, it was sort of like Richfield. Tiny, box style homes built after WWII. A safe, affordable place to live, but not where the shiny-happy people lived. The sprawl Westward from Uptown is changing that, but it's still overrated imo.
