Take a look at their facebook pages. Castile is seen throwing up Crip gang signs, is pictured with a guy in all blue, with blue do-rag throwing 'C' gang signs, has his body contorted into the Crip 'C' in another pic. Castile was also a member of a Crip Gang facebook group. He also updated his status with things like "Merry CRIPmas and a happy BLUE year" (emphasis his, not mine). Lavish Reynolds is seen holding weed, posting about how she stays high all the time, posts multiple memes about weed and the weed liestyle, posted multiple pics of "shots" and pic of her behind the wheel of a car holding up a whiskey bottle and also posted a Crip meme stating "Ah Crip, it's Friday!". Also this neighborhood is a well known Crip neighborhood. They're known at the Selby-Siders and are a Crip gang. The school he worked at JJ Hill is located right on Selby Ave. None of this means he should have been shot. What it does is show him as a more complex human being, a product of his environment perhaps, and not just the "innocent, working man" murdered by police for his skin color narrative.

He got lucky. He could have run back to his car after a quick verbal suggestion to Castile to fix the tail light if he thought there was danger. He instead chose to stay and harrass and shoot the victim. Was way out of control afterwards as shown on the video. Not a role model, but a danger to the public. Never should have a police uniform and badge again. He chose to kill, threaten and intimidate, not protect and serve. Therefore should not be a police officer. Why is that so hard for you to understand? We should not show more sympathy for an officer that killed someone recklessly than a traumatized four year old girl. I understand that. Governor Dayton understands that. Several other people understand that. You do not seem to understand that.

It should matter when there is a child is in the car. That speaks volumes about your viewpoint as does your inability to express empathy for her after being sincerely asked to do so. Hopefully, the officer will face charges and your "might makes right, regardless of ethics" worldview is opposed by the majority of American citizens. Thanks for sharing them though. We know where you stand. Will grant you that.

As to governor Dayton, I stand by my view that him saying nothing would have been far more irresponsible than taking a stand. He would have been criticized by other citizens for not being concerned (a no win so to speak). To Dayton's credit, he also criticiized some protesters that put themselves and others in danger when they walked on to the I-94 freeway and strongly criticized those that tossed rocks at the police. In other words, protest, but do so peacefully and lawfully.

In our nation's history, I suppose the so called trouble makers (to those that support the staus quo) did not have to make certain statements either. Like Susan B. Anthony having the audacity to think women should be allowed to vote, those that opposed slavery, Martin Luther King having the audacity to want people of color to have the right to vote. They had no hard evidence that these things would make the nation better, but they knew it was just the right thing to do. How dare they not wait for a formal study or full research to be done before expressing those views!

Sorry that Dayton sharing his serious concerns about this incident bothers you, but most Minnesotans and Americans IMO call it leadership. It is suspicious when a mere traffic stop for a broken tail light ends in death. You have to admit the officer behaved in an unhinged and out of control manner on the video. Yet you chose to fan the flames of hostility against governor Dayton in this forum. That is your right. However, I agree to disagree.

We might as well wait for the results of the investigation and then resume this discussion.

The Dallas shooter was determined to kill several people regardless of what any politician said or did not say. He bares sole blame for killing the officers and had planned it for awhile. Thanks for sharing your views.
Dayton is a privileged 1% hypocrite who's never come within a mile of racism or the police unless they were escorting him somewhere. Inherited everything he has, Yale educated, married into the Rockefeller family and moved his estimated 2.5 billion dollar fortune to South Dakota to avoid paying his fair share of taxes in Minnesota or inheritance tax when he dies. Breaks my heart to see people who claim to be for social justice, cheer leading for hypocritical 1%'ers.

He was dead wrong to say this wouldn't have happened if the suspect was White. Twice as many White people are killed by police than Black people every year. The week of the Louisiana and Falcon Heights shootings, five White people were shot and killed by the police. His statement was not reality, nor justice, it was just irresponsible, divisive, racial pandering.

Doubt it!

All of us should in our thoughts for at least a minute or two, put ourselves in the same situation as that woman and her child. Always easier when it happens to a stranger than to us or someone we know, isn't it? Food for thought.
A strong statement from police leaders and the District Attorney would be appreciated, but a statement from Mark Dayton would do absolutely nothing for me. I don't respect him as a leader.
imo-The only reasons he got elected as our Governor was due to his namesake and his bank accounts.

You figured it out. Do you remember the story When Sharon Anderson got 40% of the vote because people thought the person on the ballet was the lady from "Good Company" talk show. Here is the story... Bruce Kennedy for MN Secretary of State

Note: My statement has nothing to do with Dayton being a good or bad governor. I'm just pointing out how ignorant the voters are. If they were smart, would we have Trump or Hillary on the ticket?

"But data scientists and policing experts often note, comparing how many or how often white people are killed by police to how many or how often black people are killed by the police is statistically dubious unless you first adjust for population"

As much as I love pathological lying I love truth and fact checking even more. If only conservatives did.

"Dayton’s department store ancestors set up a South Dakota trust — in 1934.
He said he has no control over the trust, and pays Minnesota and federal taxes on whatever income he derives."

I came on this page disappointed to see that there was no thread started yet to discuss this story. This is not something to sweep under the rug. How are Minnesotans dealing with this? Or are you just ignoring it? Social justice for minorities in Minnesota needs to be addressed. I read that the black to white imprisonment rate in Minnesota is among the highest in the nation. How are these problems being addressed? My guess is it's the typical Minnesota "ignore it and it doesn't exist" mentality.
You are correct, well the blacks and minorities cared but go on FB's and see the whites they sure didn't and if they did make a post it was some elitist white privilege crap which shows no empathy for example

Minnesota Nice= Passive aggressive racism

Let's all pretend that black lives matter is a nuisances or the guy deserved it. As long as people don't see blacks in where they live i.e. Eden Prairie, Minnetonka,Woodbury, Ham Lake etc no one cares. Let the Minneapolis/St Paul police deal with the Negros and their issues as long as I'm in the burbs why bother me and my lifestyle? I'm not bothering anyone living in the burbs with my half million dollar house, my hot trophy wife and big back yard so why should I care?

This is the mentality that no one speaks of

What are you talking about? My kids are in EP schools. 4 Somolians, 3 Indians, 3 Asians, 2 Hispanics and 9 white kids in the her 2nd grade class. And while I don't live in Bearpath Country Club this is where those kids go so you've got privileged white kids with section 8 kids. Great school. I love it.

Some of the most racially divisive people (you, I'm talking about you) try to sound like a champion of the oppressed but in reality just further the divide. Suburban whites aren't the problem. The problem is an overmilitarized police force and real systemic issues with poverty in certain areas that are predominantly minority.
