You might be a redneck if you believe in God, can still say the Pledge of Allegence with pride, love this country and support those who serve it.
All in all, being a 'redneck' is just another way of saying you're a conservative, rural-born American.
So a redneck is a Christian?

I'm having a difficult time understanding how the Confederate flag is NOT a symbol of racism.
Hey Bud,

The confederate flag is not a symbol of racisim. Just because it represented the confederate army durning the civil war does not make it a racist symbol, period As of today, the flag is nothing more than the old Confederate army flag thats it, it has not been a historic symbol sense the army disbanded in 1865. Yes people still fly it as a symbol of Southern pride and thats cool as everyone else can fly their flag then us down here should also have something we can relate to. But just because it may have stood for, as you might say "racist" belifs in the past does not mean that the people who display it today feel the same way. I don't display the flag on my car or house and I was born and raised down south all my life. But I do own several and want to have the right to fly it if I ever choose.

The term 'redneck' can and is broadly interpreted and applied to a wide variety of people. It may be used as a derogatory name towards white trash and racists. It is also used in more comedic applications(Jeff Foxworthy-esk) to poke fun at those of us who live and revel in the rural way of life. It can be a term that falls into the same category as 'Hillbilly', 'Hick' and 'Bumpkin'. And generally people who are have those names applied to them, live in the Midwest or Southern states, tend to be conservative in their politics(red states, mind you) and have strong Christian values(bible belt isn't a misnomer). My personal interpretation of the term as I put forth in my first post, can be applied to myself. I am not a racist. I am a firm believer in Equal rights. I also am a firm believer in my country and it's principals, in God and the 10 Commandments. I live in the woods,I have a 4X4 pickup, a pack of dogs, I hunt, I fish and enjoy a warm summer night out on the porch watching insects hit the bug zapper with a can of beer in my hand . Gee, I might be a redneck

this is pretty ignorant. the confederate flag is absolutely a symbol of racism. if you don't think it is, then you must not think the nazi flag is a symbol of oppression.

I dont want to sound ignorant but...

People of the south are very Southern pride! and they hold the heritage seriously ... something most Americans forget about!

the Nazi symbol - in some cultures is viewed as a good luck charm.. way before Hitler!
