All play the same role in every movie. They are niche actors. The Oscars should create an award for this type of acting. I enjoyed the movies that they have done but i am somewhat over the type of characters that they always portray.

This has always been the case throughout the history of the movies. You can go way back
to people like Clark Gable and many others. They basically played the same character their
whole careers. When Gable tried to change the routine in a few films like Parnell in 1937,
the films flopped!! People get typecast, because many movie fans like it that way.

There are plenty of actors/actresses who've played a variety of roletypes (Ed Norton, Ryan Gosling, Lili Taylor, Cate Blanchett). And I think most real fans like to see their favs talents branched out, not doing the same thing over and over. Well, that's just me.

I'd add to those who play the same roles...themselves...

Jennifer Aniston
Reese Witherspoon
Ben Stiller
Vince Vaughn
Katherine Heigl

You beat me to it. Witherspoon sort of got off the list briefly with Walk the Line, although not that far off.

I'd add Julie Roberts. No matter what she does she still is Julia Roberts doing a role. Even in her award winning environmentalist movie she was still very 'recognizable'. Bruce Willis too.

I can sort of forgive Stiller and Vaughn, they're comedians.

Jason Statham easily. I don't bother with his movies anymore because I already know the story arch just by knowing he's in the movie. Tough guy has a hard life but is trying to make an honest living, he gets into some ****, meets hot girls in the process, tough guy in him comes back out and kicks ass, saves the day and gets a better life for himself but not in the original intended way, roll credits.

Done. I just summarized the plot for his next film.
