Perhaps said boat can be traversed with under a bright, shiny.........................moon. There's A Moon Out Tonight - Capris
It was a top 3 hit not to be forgotten. The lead singer in this video lost a lung to cancer but continued to perform with only one lung until his death.
Nick Santo died in 2011 and was age 69 so he was born in 1942. The group members were in high school in 1957 and the song released in 1958. When the song did not go anywhere on one label Nick went into the army in 1961 and later rejoined the group. So he was very much a part of The Capris and not a substitute in the above video.
All of the original members were Italian Americans from the borough of Queens in New York, United States. Started by first tenor Mike Mincieli, the original group coalesced in 1958 – also including Nick Santo (Santamaria) lead baritone, second tenor Frank Reina, baritone Vinnie Narcardo, and bass John Cassese.
Well done, case! I'm in the same boat as CrownVic - the one without a paddle. I have heard the song before, but 50s doo wop is way out of my normal listening range.
Good get case, of a great song. As many times as I've listened to that song, I was still baffled by the first clip. I needed the second stretch to get it.
It's time once again to test the limits of identifiability.
The current record in the instrument category is 0.175.
#376 is 0.174 seconds in length. I listened to it at .300 and .200 and it was there for me. Shortening that to 0.174 is a stretch but the sound is unique, at least among the songs I listen to and remember.
I give you the new record in the instrument category and I predict it will be solved in short order.
