I am envious! Since we don't have herd of elk in NJ, I am not likely to ever see that. LOL

Our little spider is no more. The last couple of times I saw him (or her), he appeared to be slowing down. This morning, I found him curled up, dead on my kitchen counter. My husband and I felt bad about it! I couldn't throw him in the trash, so I put his body outside, to return him to the earth. We sure enjoyed having him around for a few weeks.

Glancing out the kitchen window, two juncos were with a tiny almost all white bird that have never seen before. The juncos were slightly puffed up due to the morning chill but this tiny white bird not at all, looked sleek and skinny next to them.

Saw an orange colored butterfly yesterday fly by while stopped at a red light, probably the last one of the year.

Hmm. I wonder what that white bird could have been.

Speaking of juncos, I have been meaning to ask if anyone knows where they go in the summer! Are they around, but not at feeders? It seems that the moment the weather gets cold, the juncos all show up at once and start feeding regularly at my feeders. But I literally never see a junco in the summer.

Yeah, don't know what that tiny white bird was. It did have a couple very small beigy gray patches on either side and toward the tail, otherwise all white. It's eyes were black the the beak was small, pointed, and black as well.

Not sure where juncos hang out in the summer, maybe way up in Canada?
