Yes, why do we need so many counties in this state? We are a tiny state.

Let's compare NJ with Los Angeles

L.A. County Population: 9.8 million
L.A. County Area: 4,060 sq. miles

N.J. Population: 8.7 million
NJ Area: 8,722 sq. miles

Can we just have 2 counties? Or no county at all, just the state govt?

The people of NJ don't care.... They do not participate in council meets. Many don' t vote during referendums.. Democracy works when people participate directly at local levels.

The Ds are shameless bastards...they are less guilty and commit more crime.
The repubs are better and guilty of their actions after the fact.

We must send all these libs to new york and this state must become a red state especially during this time. Note conservatives are not anti gay , or racists...they believe in individual freedom. Groupism is a cowardly act.

Isn' t it ironic -- new york city has a repub mayor. I wish Nj did too... I hear complaints of whitman... i am wasn't here when she ruled so can't comment.
perhaps she is misunderstood or the libs here are just parroting what they heard on talk radios.

Give me a break. Whitman has not been the only Republican Governor in the last 30 years.
Guilty of their actions after the fact. LOL.

There are different types of conservatives and they don't all believe in individual anything. It just depends. Whitman's problems are not the stuff of talk radio. That wasn't even that many years ago.
There are quite a few moderate to conservative people around. They may vote Republican but not be what you would call red stater types.
Silly so silly.

I suggest redoing the counties and making 3 - North NJ, Central NJ, and South NJ. I understand the need for county governments since people in South NJ with a Philly influence have different needs than North NJ with a NY influence. But, I don't see the need so many counties or so many little towns.

When I drive 10 miles and pass through 6 towns, that's a problem

I have been trying to get my Mom to leave Jersey for a few years now and she will not. Her taxes are over 7,000 a year but she pays 4,800 due to some senior fixed property tax rate. She is 86 years old and also has a reversible mortgage, which was not the best choice for her but it was her only choice. I am trying to get her out before she runs out of money. She can head south and buy a brand new beautiful 3/2 (2,300 sf.) home for 180,000. Also she would have no high heating bills in the winter months. She still will not budge.
My friend also built a big home in North Jersey and his taxes are 23,000 a year! Is that possible?
