Unfortunately, unless I'm very much mistaken the word "gotham" has as its origin something like "fool." We don't need that around here. Using the name of Amsterdam is, of course, historically appropriate. I don't think it would attract any more stoners than the city already does, anyway.

There may be a lot of NYers in south Florida, but it's a whole other world down there. my parents live there (not by choice, because of my dad's job) and don't like it. They say it's a whole other culture.

No u got to be kidding me. Growing up in nyc is just different from anywhere else. Even people from outta the city just look at us as just...different. I see it all the time in college. Its not arrogance, it is what it is though.

The population density here in Nassau is getting closer to that of Queens, but unlike Queens, we dont have frequent bus service and subways, so most people drive, resulting in some of the worst traffic in the NY area. The buses are terribly overcrowded and unreliable and Nassau County doesn't give a damn about it. I say annex Nassau, then LI Bus will be part of NYC Transit and we can get some frequent 5-10 min bus service here instead of every HALF HOUR or HOUR.

Yonkers was originally supposed to be the 6th borough. Lower Westchester is the closest thing to a borough, followed by Nassau County.
You Hoboken people need to realize New Jersey will never be a part of New York State, let alone a 6th borough. They are two vastly different states. New Jerseyans are obsessed with Bruce Springsteen, corny North Jersey vs South Jersey arguments that nobody cares about, excessively repeating the phrase "down the shore" for going to the beach, etc. Nobody in New York, or any of the other 48 states, pays attention to this nonsense.
There is no need for an inferiority complex. The average New Jersey basher grew up in a flyover state eating microwave chicken nuggets for dinner every night. Despite its toilet status and the scents of Linden and Secaucus, New Jersey is probably the best state to be from aside from New York.

I think Jersey City would be the best bet because it has quick access to Manhattan and the rest of the city, a lot of companies are moving there, and it is improving unlike some areas that are in decline. Obviously, Jersey City will forever remain in NJ so Yonkers probablly is NY's runner up at being the sixth borough and would have a much better chance of making that happen than any other candidates.
Also the average Jersian does not idolize NYC or even want to live there. Jersians appreciate being so close to what most consider America's greatest city and overall its a great place to have fun, go out to eat, work, and visit but at the end of the day most Jersians want to come back home, otherwise they just move to NY.
