Me personally I have no business what so ever to go to Brownsville. I would not go to Brownsville even if I was to date woman from that area. Brownsville along with some other parts of Brooklyn are areas to avoid. Dont worry I also try to avoid Williamsburg too.

Williamsburg? LOL. That place is hipsterville now. Nothing to fear there whatsoever unless you wander into one of the housing projects late at night. For the most part Williamsburg is very safe now.

Your biggest worry in Williamsburg is being charged $8.00 for a $2.00 cup of coffee!

Agreed. It's still hood, but nowhere near Bville level. Back in the 90s, maybe...now, from what I'm told by friends, it's cool down a bit.

Personally, I don't have a problem going to Bville. Would I randomly travel there at 3 am? Probably not, but I'm certainly not scared to go there. Should always be cautious though.

sometimes it ain't even about being afraid or not to go in some place, it's about common sense, I'll think twice before going to Bville because I know that as a white dude I'm gonna stand out and will be more likely to be targeted

The entire city of Newark had a higher murder rate than Brownsville (2010 or 2011 not sure which year).
