I am under the age of 40, but whatever. City workers MUST do the jobs they are hired to do, or they need to resign or be fired. Plain and simple.
You were basically advocating for civil servants to abandon huge parts of the public just because you don't like the mayor. Any public employee who would endanger a member of the public in this kind of game is immoral and horrible beyond redemption. And since when did everyone in the public necessarily agree with Sharpton and others who you seemingly despise so? You basically implied the entire public is anti police and therefore needs to be deprived of NYPD, FDNY, and paramedic services. That is sick and evil beyond belief!
Paramedics, firefighters and EMTs were not hired to drive into an ambush or dodge gunfire. They absolutely had to wait for police escort into areas because dead EMTs can't help patients and dead firemen can't put out fires. This wasn't done as some kind of payback or slowdown. It was policy because people routinely fired at responding emergency vehicles. You can "whatever" all you want but shrugging off the facts of what the city was like is just silly.

They are hired to go where the assistance is needed. FDNY responds to some matters that the NYPD should be doing, but they fight over this. Simple is that they are supposed to go where the job takes them as assigned to them.
Well, after 13 pages on this issue,it's important to note that Commissioner Bratton ,at a live news conference, just totally debunked this myth as internet BS and challenged any newsperson or blogger claiming there ever was such a memo to produce the actual memo they based their story on. He claims the story and the quotes are totally made up.He was clearly offended at even the suggestion that there could be any truth to it.

He has thrown out the challenge. The writer of the piece that started all this crap put quotes around a substantial part of the article, suggesting that he saw the memo. Bratton has challenged him or anyone else claiming it's true,to produce the memo itself with or without the signature of the PBA official who supposedly signed it.
Not too much to ask after a reporter has quoted someone.
I'd put my money on Bratton's integrity any day over any of the other players in this controversy.I doubt he would have let the media hype about this pass without an investigation.
What I always thought anyway, which is why I didn't get too involved in this thread earlier.People who make those kinds of claims are just as disrespectful of the integrity of NYPD as most of the demonstrators.
Yup! Nobody hates cops more than the hood. Cops unfortunately are gonna learn the hard way that they (collectively country wide) are REALLY pissing people off. Right or wrong, their outnumbered and people only take so much before they fight back. While it appears that the MO thing was justified that guy getting choked to death wasn't. It was only a matter of time before the eye for an eye vigilante types started up. Then you add in the race baiters and it goes totally out of control.
No one would ever put their name on that report because of the Taylor Law. Also there is a clear line what's doing your job or not. Once again the word DISCRETION.

Which is good reason for everyone take a chill pill while the families bury the dead.
