How often do you change those "flents?"
I am afraid of causing a fungal infection in my ear canal. But I am also frugal enough to not want to throw them out every day.
I had to endure noise from an upstairs neighbor with an autistic son for years. I knew it was out of his control but between 1AM to 4AM.. This was just unacceptable. I mentioned to it to her a few times.. But nothing was ever done. A few weeks before I moved into my house (thank HEAVENS) my downstairs neighbor had the nerve to come knock on my door and said we were being too loud!!! We where packing and i truly didn't care to entertain him.
I went through this in 3 different apartments in two different cities. Finally bought a house. These people never change.
If you want to spend more on renovations, you need to put a second ceiling in that is NOT attached to the main ceiling. A tall order when you don't even own the place.

Exactly. Living below people really is the worst. Right now, I am in a concrete building and I'm on the first floor..(had to take something even though I wasn't thrilled about being on the first floor) and I can still hear stuff from upstairs. Nothing too terrible but annoying nevertheless. I hope to never have to live below someone again.

Concrete helps a lot for most noise except percussive whacks. As ugly as it is, wall to wall carpeting over padding over concrete for all the apartments is the best noise proofing.

Backed by a layer of air and then another layer of insulation.
I know, dreaming.
