I think this says more about you than it does about people in general. There's nothing 'phony' about being polite. In fact, I think people who think basic manners are optional are somewhat suspect people. They basically strut through life blurting out whatever they feel at the moment, believing that they are somehow Diogenes when in truth they are just jerks.

It is quite people to let one's feelings known, when necessary, in a way that is diplomatic. Unless one has the social skills of a turnip, it's rather easy to do.

I didn't say it was easy for the OP.....just that if the OP wants to see change then start in the mirror because that's where the problem lies.

The OP simply needs to check tone before opening her mouth. She described a trend of bad behavior and negative feedacck from those exposed it. Nobody wants to be around that crap. The ball is in her court.
