Due respect, Bloom, I don't think New Yorkers, past or present, have a lock on "crack wise or crack up".
I'm a Philadelphia native and have lived in various other places, none of them in NY, city or state. My family, especially the Irish side, has always had a macabre sense of humor and we tend to treat illness/tragedy/death with the same flippant attitude.
We're all pretty tough and while we don't try, some of us are rude. I don't usually play the rude card and I don't recognize it as a trait specific to any one locale. If I'd assign any one attribute to New Yorkers it would be "blunt". I'm guessing this stems from the fast pace of life in the Big Apple and a tendency to cut through the BS and get right down to it, whatever "it" may be. It's a trait I admire.

I didn't see it as awkward. Just one person being supportive of another. That's a trait we all should share.

I'm in Forks Township (Easton), and it looks like we got between 1 and 2", which I don't mind at all. Unfortunately, it's covered with a thick coating of ice, which I really don't like.

I got over four on my deck – but only about three in my driveway. The ground was warm enough to melt some of it. I already got it plowed and cleaned.

I checked the future radar on the Weather Channel and it looks like I might get some freezing rain later on today. The Easton area looks like rain. It is usually a little warmer that side of the Blue Mountain.

So I bought my snowthrower for $100 .. The plow guy charged $15 per driveway .( we have 2 ) . Ive used the snowthrower 3 times already ... ( worked wonderfully ) I guess its just about paid for itself ... I can get both driveways done in 45 min with 8'' of fresh snow down.. Im cool with that ... I bet the plow guy is pissed.. Oh well ...
