My coworker just texted me and he's stuck between Liberia and Hoadley on the PWC Parkway. He's been stuck there for hours!!! Apparently they closed it for about an hour to clear up stuck cars, but I guess there are still a lot of vehicles trapped.

I left at 2pm and it was only sleeting then and I had no problem going through the same road. I'm glad I left when I did.

I'm expecting the fed to be at least on a 2 hour delay if not on liberal leave tomorrow. It'll give me time to dig out

Does anyone know if the stretch of westbound Route 7 between Leesburg and Purcellville is open and passable?

Assume nothing is open and passable right now. Many people never made it home from work tonight so no one in their right mind should try and go out right now. I just spent the last hour clearing a fallen tree from my driveway thanks to the heavy snow. It sounds like gunfire out there with branches breaking everywhere. I live in a heavily wooded area.

I'm annoyed because TV is my "distraction/mind release" - it's been out here since a little after 5 - once in a while it got some audio, no video. I'm currently wasting time online because I'm not that tired yet and I have a new book to start reading but: although I love to read, I just don't feel like it now, and if this book is good, I'll get so into that I read past my sleepy time and then I'm awake again - plus (trying to keep the thread topic) - I keep wondering what the latest is on the snow stuff.

Yup I've been hearing things breaking in the backyard too. I looked in the front and saw that a huge pine branch has broken off. Luckily it missed the house and cars. Crossing my fingers nothing bigger falls...

TrafficLand.com -- Washington, DC

Shows a lot of bad traffic out there. Be careful out there.

Heavens no -- not going out! Just someone I know is trying to get home from Leesburg to the Winchester area!

speaking of noises...I keep hearing quiet boom sounds on my roof or at least from the outside. Is this from the snow you think? Anything to be concerned about? I never heard it last year during the bigger storms.
