Depends on what you're seeking. Tell us a little bit about you, such as where your job is, how old you are, if you have kids, need a big yard, things like that. Chantilly has a lot of nice qualities for the right person, and it's nice to be near the airport if you travel a lot.

Ill be working in both woodbridge and springfield and am basically looking for a decent place to live in fairfax county without a hellish commute. i drive 35-40 minutes or so to work everyday now, however i am actually moving and not at a stand still in traffic. i thought this area might be ok since i would be going against traffic for the most part. im in my early 20's and would more than likely be renting a 1 br apt. or townhome.

Early 20s? Oh I would think twice about Chantilly then. There aren't a lot of 20-somethings there. You could find something much closer to springfield/woodbridge that would more likely appeal to your age group. I would suggest renting in Woodbridge, at least for the first year. That would give you time to figure out which area appeals to you the most. Woodbridge has some nice areas and is closer to DC and other inner ring suburbs, which is where you'll find more people your age.

Fair enough, but I'm still curious about the commute from chantilly down to that area. Didn't know if anyone had experience with that drive.

Not sure on rush hour, but it takes me about 45mins to Woodbridge from South Riding (Loudoun side of Chantilly), and that's without traffic.

I love it out here - and I'm in my early 20's. I'm not into the whole nightlife though, so this area is better suited.

It's not bad going to Springfield if you take Fairfax County Parkway.

What's your budget for renting? Chances are that you'll be renting a 1BR apt sooner than a townhome. By my personal definition, for example, an "okay" 1BR in an "okay" complex/neighborhood will go for around $1200/month. Maybe shave off $100 if you're dealing with a private owner.

If you leave Chantilly at 6:00 you can get to Springfield around 6:30. If you leave at 8AM, it's about 45 minutes to Springfield. Traffic on 7100 is getting worse...

Can I point out that it might be better to keep going with the same thread instead of starting a new one every time you want to ask about a different town? That way people can see the information you have already given and what has already been suggested.
