Oklahoma has strong roots and family values. I would say that is what keeps most of its people here.
But, there is no way to know if "everyone" who can afford to move, moves. What sort of noise pollution are you talking about?

And yet since 2006, there's been net inmigration of about 125K people into Oklahoma, with 88K of that net domestic in migration (i.e. people moving in from other states), the rest being immigrants from outside the US.

Your complaints can be attributable to most states in the interior US. Trust me, I've lived in a lot of other places, the world isn't as near as sexy as it makes itself appear.

Since I don't know the circumstances of the majority of us, I don't know if they could move away or not. For me, the vicissitudes of life put me where I am and I'm staying. I think malcontents who complain about where they live aren't interested in doing something constructive to improve the place. Griping is a way of life for so many. When a child grows up in a griping home, it puts one more griper into the mix.

Reps Rubi.

And we Okies really don't do well around gripers.

We, that is combined of 1 OK native and 1 that is not (lived there 10 years) got out of there faster than you can say "boomer" long ago. OK has nothing to offer us. We have met many along our path that state the same thing. Either they went there for collage and got the heck out or they were stationed there for the military and beat feet as fast as they could out of there!

To me OK is NOT OK! But we do miss Jimmys egg! ;0)

Well, I hope it works out for you in your new locale.

Oklahoma is not for everyone, I am, for one, quite happy with that truth.

Could You Do Us Born & Bred Okies a Favor? Please tell all the potential Oklahoma transplants of your horrible experience in Oklahoma and perhaps it will deter their move here.

Thanks in advance!

Then what's wrong with Oklahoma to so many people? No decent paying jobs? Too much bad weather? Too much backwardness and prohibition in the alcohol laws? Too many Oklahomans not willing to pull their weight and end up abusing their lives? The state has gotten more far right conservative, rather than less?

This fellow (ssincity) is originally from So Cal. I bet Johnny Special is relieved that he got out of here.
