What kind of a mood do parents need to be making in order for kids to have fun? Only in th midwest would I receive an answer like this, ha, ha

There is more but I want to point out that kids fun is usually in direct response to the parents mood.

The zoo for example, even when kids have been there many times if the parent is going to slow or just at a different pace then the kids it becomes a place where the parent is giving orders again.
Instead a wide open place to run or sit and see all the wonders of the zoo.


I live in a small town now with even less to do. The way to ensure my son has a good time is to evolve him in the planning and put him in charge of some of it. It is not always about the place or how much money you do or don't spend.


If you can't find something fun for your kids in the city the size of Omaha I suspect there are other problems stifling your fun.
Kids didn't want to come to Omaha so nothing will be fun.
Over controlling parent which makes everything boring.
Lack of imagination in the kids and or the parent.

So I guess I guess in the childrens mecca of Tulsa every child recieves their very own jet pack and robot buddy.

No, but it does help if there are actually places to go where kids can be creative and participate in what they are doing or learn a new skill (snowboarding, skiing) or just have fun going on rides or whatever?? I am really not saying that Tulsa has that much to do either (we have only been here for two months), but Spokane Washington was a city smaller than Omaha and there were options and things to do.. I am certainly not saying that parents should spend hundreds of dollars every weekend entertaining their kids but it is nice every once in a while to be able to have fun somewhere. What is wrong with that?

My boys really are very active and they like to do active things when we go somewhere. When you go to the zoo you are more or less a spectator and not a participator. That is alright on occasion but I think kids have more fun doing things...at least I did. Does that make sense? I like your comment and would actually enjoy having a robot buddy for myself. A programmable one to do the vacuuming and laundry... lol

Well those look really nifty but my boys are 15 and 11. They would enjoy going down those slides about three times and they would be done. Guys we are talking about boys who snowboard. Maybe we are just spoiled. We lived a mile from Disneyland when we lived in Orange County. Oh well, we will just visit the zoo and some of these places in Omaha. We won't be there that long anyway... thanks for the recommendations... It's all a matter of perspective...

I do understand.
You say that there is nothing in Omaha to make your boys (15 and 11) happy.

It is simple that shows a lack of imagination or a lack of quality parental involvement

or both.

There are a few places that have in door go-carting which is fun, family fun center is a pretty fun place, also Fun Plex is also fun, if they have in-line skates the trail system is extensive at least over 40 miles. Also, to everyone else, it is hard to find things for kids that age to do, so if we can all lighten up that would be great. Raelyn everyone is reacting this way because of what I have said before; the comments you make sound very charged especially against Omaha. People will react negatively to that

Not much of everything. I don't know why this poster is getting so weird about everything? I was just having fun with him. I think I have a "talent" for getting people all fired up and upset.
