Cruel to be kind and all that.

I agree, unless you have family over here that could sponsor you, or get a business Visa (E2), then the chances of you getting over here are very slim to none. USA is a very difficult country to get into even with a skilled profession. I am a Nurse and it took me just over 3 years to get my Green Card. And nurses now are finding it even harder to get over here....

being a plumber will not get you a Visa over here - sorry.

marypoppins is so right...forget it I have had a green card (my family was based in CA for a while) if you can't or don't want to start your own business ($350K min) you will not get in. NO ONE WILL employ a UK plumber he is not qualified in the US for starters and there are plenty about, it is NOT an Essential job sorry but if a US citizen can do it he will and they wont need you simple. Plus have you been to Florida? at 19 you say you have two years to go...so you are not a qualfied plumber in the UK either...stay at home gain the qualification and experiance then rethink .
It may sound nasty but hay life is full of dissapointments.

UKMartin is right....the purpose of the Employer Petitioning you to come here is if they cant Employ an American to do the job. This is what happens with Nurse's and how they get their Green Cards - as there is such a shortage (worldwide aswell), a hopsital is able to PROVE they can not employ an American Nurse....unfortunately this would not be the case for a Plumber.

Hi,
You could apply for a sponsership, or buy your own business, or set up your own business and come on a visitor visa maybe and then apply for your E2. I am 19 and moved from Manchester to Orlando 4years ago. I have mates who have there own plumbing businesses, I could pass you on to them if you want me to and they could advise you to?

Im sorry Gemma, but i really think you are giving this person false hope. No company here will offer sponsorship for a plumber because they are a dime a dozen here. It is not a trade that is in demand like nursing for instance.

The op already posted that they wernt interested in buying a business. I think its wrong to offer hope when the reality is that to go through the sponsorship route isnt viable.

You can not set up a business on a visitor's visa (whatever that might mean??? I presume you mean visa waiver???)

Anyway cfIfan is right......the PLUMBING company would have to PROVE that they could not find an American plumber to employ in order to petition you to come over to the USA......Plumbers are not hard to find over there so you dont have a chance down this route....

This probrably isnt what you want to hear but if it were me I would rather be told the truth than waste my time and money only to find I was being led up the garden path for no reason.

It's probably all academic now anyway, the OP's never been back. I guess we weren't telling him what he wanted to hear. Same old story eh? Unless of course, I smell a troll.

lol your probably right, it just annoys me as a realtor when i see other realtors giving people hope when there clearly isnt. I mean how can a 19 yr old realtor give someone advice on Visa's. Im 30, and i dont pretend to know everything about it and ive been through the process. I guess its the same old story of some bad realtors making the rest of us look bad by giving false hope in the hope of getting some business.

It's actually worse than that. Plumbing company couldn't sponsor him even if they wanted to - the circumstances are well outside outside the parameters of the H1b visa.

I have to be blunt, meeting the financial burden, qualifying for a green card and finding a plumbing job over here when you can't spell would lead me to think that you have no idea that we are still Imperial and your metric conversion skills will be another stumbling block.
Sorry, I call it as I see it, sounds like 'pie in the sky' to me.
