Just because your friends are doing it, doesn't mean you have to do it. If your friends jumped off a cliff, would you jump off after them?
Oddly enough when I was growing up my Mother pressured me to wear the most current thing, I was not comfortable with alot of the things...she would always tell me "everyone is wearing it", I would tell her that tended to make me think it was probably not a good idea...she used to get SO mad at me.
my mom passed 2 years ago his July and I will alwaysremember her saying, "don't do as I do; do as I say do!"
Man did I pass that along to my own...LOL

"No there is no magic fairy that fills my bank account each time you want a new _ _ _ _ _ _ _." (fill in the blank of whatever they are asking for that day)
"Clean your room...not your version of clean, my version!"
"Just remember you can get me back when I'm old and you are in charge of taking care of me."
Disclaimer: My folks believed in spanking (not beating, don't hijack the thread).
My mom used to say this one; "do we need to have a little hand to but[t] chat?"
My dad used to say (usually after wasting his breath asking me to do something 3-4 times) "does it take pain to make you listen?"
