Jasper....then there are people like me. I got married and left home, before I turned 17. I knew it all. I knew I had had enough of school and wanted to work and just be a wife and have my own home. I moved to NC, from WA. I left him 1-1/2 yrs later...filed for divorce, started a new life back here in WA., worked full time, met and married the man I've been with for 31 yrs now. I didn't even go back to college for 19 years...then did it twice.
Jasper...chances are, she's going to be perfectly fine! So are you, once you come to the realization that the girl has her own path to follow. It might not be the path that you wanted her to be on, but it might just be the path that's perfect for her. We are who we are today, because of our past choices and experiences of our yesterdays. She'll be fine! :-)
Everyone has their own path. I just wish she followed it after getting her degree. But, college is not for everyone.
And just becuase her "Prince Charming" is a tattoo/pierced freak, who is Goth, with big studs in his ears...who knows...maybe this is her path.
Just keep your door open for her, and let her know you care. If she ignore you she does, but let her know you still love her. Once she see's life is not the dream world she thought it would, she will be back. A year tops.
Well, reps all around. You guys have followed the drama for the last few weeks. We thought it would burn out. No such luck.
I felt so blessed to have a grown daughter, doing well in college. Curve ball. I covertly watched other parents, who had kids drop out, do drugs, and I felt like I had dodged a bullet. Well, well, well...pride goeth before the fall.
I will end discussing this drama, and will keep you posted. I am guessing less than a year. But, maybe this will be true love, and she will be happy. And she will take me off "ignore", at some time.
Sorry I missed all of the latest developments, jasper. Big hugs to you. I think you are getting some very sage advice from these ladies. I hope that the drama ends soon. I think Mel is right - we become who we are through the good decisions and the bad and sometimes it is hard to tell which is which without the distance of retrospect.
In other news, Merry Christmas to everyone who is celebrating!
