They can't make you have kids. So ... who cares?

How are you selfish for not wanting kids?

You are under no obligation to propagate the species for anyone, except yourself (if this is what you want).

Have children b/c you want to have them. Don't have them b/c you don't want them.

Live your life and be happy.

Uh, you do realize you're on the Parenting board, right? People here are going to be more likely to be in favor of parenthood than the general population. Just sayin'.

As for my opinion, choosing not to have children is an intensely personal decision on an individual level, and a suicidally selfish decision on a societal level. The decision is yours and yours alone (or yours and your partner's, if you are attached) to make, and you've made it. But don't expect the society that will be diminished by having fewer future members applaud your choice.

Are we actually talking about "society" or "family" members??

If it's really "society," who cares?

If it's family, tell them what you wrote here ^^^^.

Actually, most people who post here are happy being parents but would prefer that only those who actually want children have them. Because we actually like children enough to care about their well being.
