Among my children, other relatives, children of close friends & close co-workers, and friends of the family I know that a few teens/young adults had minor scrapes with the law, such as getting caught with a fake ID or driving too fast, however, I do not believe that even one teen (among the dozens that I know close enough to probably know) even had a misdemeanor police record. Certainly no one (to my knowledge) was ever charged with a felony.
IMHO, it is not "common" or "normal" to be charged with a felony.
I think many teens do things that would warrant a "run in" (whatever that means to the OP) with the law but don't get caught.
But it is absolutely not a low class thing. Many teens from "higher class" families and neighborhoods do things that warrant a run in.
Latest statistics are that 50% of black and Latino youth are arrested at least once at some point by age 25 and 40% of white youth are arrested by age 25%

I know kids who've had DUIs and underage drinking arrests. These are usually considered criminal. Using a fake ID is a misdemeanor. Using a fake ID and committing DUI are two separate crimes. https://www.criminaldefenselawyer.co...-penalties.htm
