When i was young i once sold every thing i owned and move to London (UK) on an extended working holiday. To cut a long story short my fist 6 months consisted of lots and lots of Holiday and very little work. On returning to england from the mainland I had a grand total of 50 pound to my name.

Armed with 50 pounds and a work visa, i travelled all around london to its varioius youth hostles asking for work as a cleaner/assistant, bar person, or what ever i could get. Eventually landing my self a bar job which gave me free accomidation in a dormitory and a 150 pound a week salary.

About a week later before i received my first pay I withdrew the last 10 pound i had in the world from a bank machine.
As soon as i got it some guy taps me on the sholder asking if I had any spare change. I had to tell him in all honesty no i did not!

To clear other things up, I have a great family and had I asked for money I would have got it, I just that I dont like doing that.

I remember in college having $1.67 in my bank account at one point and often I would take out $5 at a time. $5 seemed to go a lot farther in the 1990's.

I was used to living week to week. Then I decided to do something about it. I always hated school, I have a HS Diploma. No college. What I did was realize that connections were the key. I started talking to everybody that I came in contact with. I even had business cards printed up with just my name and phone number. That was magical! People like the fact that you're not trying to sell them something. I actually took time to listen to people. It's amazing how much you hear just by listening.

Before I knew it, I was getting leads on opportunities that I never thought existed. The rest is history.

You can only recieve good things when you put good things out there. It all starts with "Hello".

Ahhhh yes, a time when ATM's allowed you to take out only $5 - how I loved that. LOL, not you can't even take out $10. It has to be in $20 increments.

And it DID go further. As broke students, my friend and I would eat at McDonalds - at that time you could get the 2 hamburger/fries/drink value meal for $2.99 (plus tax). That's unheard of now.

When was the last time you were broke, and why?
Um, I think you're looking for attention. ...Happy now?

I ate too much of Wendy's during those years due to the 99 cent menu.

I also remember putting in $2 worth of gas at a time. I think back in those years I ran out of gas 3 times. Once I remember being able to coast right into the gas station right up to the pump and only had to push it another foot.

I remember gas going up to $1.49/gallon and thinking that was expensive.

LOL at myself now!
