This actually might work to your advantage.

You stated before that you would like to work out a payment plan since you can't come up with the lump sum settlement. Wage garnishment is essentially a payment plan.

True, but it's a rather large payment.

Maximum 25% of disposable income, and she can file a motion to quash to make it smaller if she can demonstrate to the judge that it's going to cause a financial hardship (this may vary by state). They're getting by on just her husband's income now, so if she goes back to work she should be able to absorb this along with the costs associated with her working and still come out ahead.

It's not ideal, but it wouldn't be the end of the world and would cause this thing to eventually get knocked out.
