there are fewer banks in low-income neighborhoods; one would have to take the bus or subway to get to one (and sometimes even a supermarket). assuming everyone has the same privlidge as us is slightly elitest.
when i was young, walking 3 blocks to catch the t, i would pass 5 banks (i would memorize cd rates without even trying. my cousins in a poorer area had no concept of what capital gains tax rate is.
So what?
Most of the "elite" have to use transportation to get to their bank, how many people live within walking distance?
Whether you get there by car, taxi, bus or subway.....most people have to use some form of transportation as a part of life.
With a checking account and an ATM card, how often do you have to go to an actual bank anyway? I would say close to never.
Send out another one? I have the police report and everything but I am not sure if my job would allow for a second paycheck to be sent out. I am ****ing pissed because now I am behind on rent because of this incident that happened over the past weekend. It wasn't cashed at the bank either but at a check cashing place.
Sorry man. This is what bank accounts are for. If you cashed your paycheck and were carrying around a big wad when you were robbed, then that's on you.
Get a cash card https://www.globalcashcard.com have your paycheck direct deposit and get money at a 711 or where ever. I had my bank shut down my bank card one time due to fraud on a weekend so now I keep an emergency fund on a card such as this.
Not good to be out of town and access to cash is cut off.
You should get your boss to get Payroll Direct Deposit so your payment will be transfer directly to your account at your bank , instead of carrying around a check which people could lose
No, they won't send you a second paycheck. If you had lost the check and they could stop payment on it, then yes, sending another would make sense. But, you cashed it and the money is gone from their account. They're not responsible for what happened after you did. Sending another one would be paying you twice. Perhaps you have insurance that would cover your loss?
This.
The OP needs to open a bank account and get direct deposit or find a safer place to cash his check.

I haven't stepped foot in an actual bank in almost 4 yrs..there's no need with the use of ATMs, online bill pay, apple pay, my phone app that allows me to deposit checks with my phone and allows me to transfer money from one acct to another and send money to another person.
You should tell your employer so they can stop payment on the check and then replace it. This would be common business practice. However if the bank has already cash the check then this complicates the procedure. The bank should charge the check cashing agency for the fraudulent check (not signed by you) and the employer should replace it. May take a week or two. The check cashing agency should take the loss.
Maybe the check cashing place can give you a payday loan?
