You have to be prepared to cry and not be embarrassed and perhaps that is why some don't like to be there. Frankly, I don't care what people think and pet lovers would understand.

I have been an absolute sobbing mess during a couple of my cats euthanasia sessions. The vet staff didn't care and were very sympathetic. They've been through this countless times. If they weren't sympathetic I'd find another vet pronto! I would never allow one of my pets to pass without me. I will say that having our dog euthanized was the most difficult. She was so weak I had to carry her up the ramp into the office and lift her onto the table. She was the sweetest-natured dog ever, hence her name, "Sweetie". I haven't had a dog since. I dread when any of my four remaining cats goes, but I'd rather outlive them than have them outlive me and have to be rehomed as senior cats.
