For Asian, Philly has the 3rd largest chinatown in the country (which also has a lot of vietnamese), as well as a huge asian population in south philly.
What are you talking about?

Philadelphia has restaurants serving the authentic cuisines of:

Turkey
Morocco
Cambodia
Laos (such as South Philly's Cafe de Laos or University City's Vientiane)
Russia
Poland
Bavaria
Burma "Myanmar" (the excellent Rangoon Restaurant near Chinatown)
Malaysia (many of them, most famous in Panang restaurant)
Indonesia (too many to mention, but some have the Rijstafel banquet)
Tibet
Pakistan (Kababeesh in University City)
Philippines
Singaporean
Israeli (Zahav is the most famous)
Lebanese (Saad's in West Philly)
Syrian
Persian "Iranian"
Senegal
Ethiopia (at least three in University City)
Eritrean (also in University City)
Hawai'i
Dominican
Haitian
Jamaica
Costa Rica
Brazil (the rodizios like Chifa)
Argentina
Mongolia

etc., etc., etc.

Philadelphia has a larger immigrant population than either DC or "Ballmer."

Not to mention US regional cuisines like New Orleans Cajun and Creole, Pennsylvania "Dutch" (I recommend Mid-Atlantic on Market St.), Southern, California, etc.

... or "special diet restaurants" such as Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-free, Jewish Kosher, Islamic Halal, Fondue, etc.

Of course the old stand-by establishments: Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese, French, German, Greek, Spanish, Portuguese, Steak Houses, Seafood, Elegant Cordon Bleu cuisine, etc.

Philadelphia has several world-famous chefs, including Garces, Starr, Bobby Flay, Georges Perrier, etc.

Only New York, Los Angeles, and perhaps Chicago have a better restaurant scene than Philadelphia ... I would argue we are in the top 5 - and ahead of Baltimore or Washington (but Philly is a much bigger city than either of those two).

Honestly, how can anybody be this ignorant? Ask around. You'll find there's plenty of "variety" and it's in every single type of food you can find.
holy crap why are people in philly so dam defensive. what the hell do you care if someone else isnt impressed by the food scene in philly? what a stupid thing to get upset over. think about it. "oooh my cities food scene is better than yours". so lame.
