These types of lists are absolutely worthless. (1) These are not the only three metrics "men" (or most anyone else for that matter) cares about. (2) I'm curious as to how a major metropolitan area replete with some of the nation's finest hospitals; and top-notch restaurant, shopping, and nightlife scenes could fail in either health or quality of life.

This isn't the only area with good hospitals and restaurants,and shopping is not usually at the top of (straight) men's lists anyway

I never said this was the only area with good hospitals and restaurants. But that doesn't downgrade what should otherwise be a B+ or A- to an F. And if men don't shop, how do they pick out such manly items like monster trucks, protein powders, and ...?

I wasn't aware that was the kind of shopping you were referring to

LOL. I'm a man. I have no doubt I am happier in Philly than in someplace like Boise or (ahem) Plano.

Agree. Not to mention the fact that the city has a giant city park, and many other open spaces. Or the fact that the city is surrounded by suburban counties containing massive acreage of state, local, and national parkland, plus even active working farms. As much as I agree that such lists, even when they rate Philadelphia highly, are nonsensical, this is insulting. Makes you wonder if they picked city names out of a hat or based on hearsay, or even by throwing darts onto a list.

LOL agreed but it's all about generating web traffic and unfortunately Philly is often a scapegoat for national publications and their nonsensical lists.

They must realize that we really don't give af.

Those other cities have that as well...with less congestion and more affordability to boot;

We will all be a lot happier when we start ignoring these faux "lists."

Understand that magazines realize they are becoming irrelevant, and are trying to find ways to remain important in the eyes of potential readers online. Generating endless "lists" seems to be the method-of-the-day for online sites, none of which are put together with any kind of scientific methodology. It's all someone's opinion.

If you're happy where you are, why let a "list" from Men's Health spoil your day? Do you need a list to validate your happiness?
