Speaking of 'back in the day' have you ever seen the footage from 50 years ago at the DNC(1968) in Chicago?

Horrific year all around!

I'm convinced that RFK would have won the nomination and the presidency. What kind of country would be now, I wonder?
It took me years to get over MLK's and RFK's deaths.

No kidding. As a country, I don't think we've ever recovered from all three deaths.

So long ago too. I was 18 during that awful spring and summer.

I'm not sure what you mean here....aren't these type of protests happening all over the country?

I have yet to see an aggressive intimidating anti-police march in Philadelphia's peer cities followed by aggressive police force (doesn't help much). The fact that this happens at Broad and Arch is even more unsettling... My parents took my 6 year old niece and nephew into the city a few weeks ago for lunch and and site seeing, I keep imagining if they got caught in that or one of the flash mobs on Walnut St.

Yes, there are protests everywhere, DC is expected because its the political center, but I do not see things like that happening in similar neighborhoods in DC, Boston, New York or Chicago. And this isn't the first instance of these situations. I even talk to my friends in other cities about events like this, and most are hard pressed to find related events in their respective cities, yet it seems to be a rather common occurrence in Philadelphia. Feel free to shed some light on that.

And no I am not trying to be anti-protest, political and social movements with associated protests are fine, but this aggressive wild behavior marching down CC streets (for what reason?) is not okay with me.

You can disagree all you want, but that is how I feel, and I am sure many more feel the same, they just don't speak up.

I'm not even disagreeing with you necessarily. I just assumed (incorrectly perhaps) that these Anti-ICE, BLM, Antifa, etc. type activities were similar among the big cities.

I'm sure there is a presence everywhere in some way, but there seems to be a stronghold in Philadelphia. Could be a number of reasons why...

I'm in CC most days and many evenings. I have not seen a flash mob in a long time.

I did not know about that protest until you posted about it.

There are a ton of small children( babies in strollers!) in CC, Fairmount and Spring Garden for instance. Young parents who are living their lives, etc. So I don't think your parents should necessarily worry so much about bringing children into the city.
