Electric Factory has been sold to a NYC-based concert promotion company, The Bowery Presents. Because the naming rights were not for sale, they are holding a contest to rename the venue. I suggest, "The Acoustics Stink."

I saw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and opening bands there on Saturday, up front you could barely make out the vocals.

I was there too... but that was an outdoor concert so doesn't really speak to the acoustics of the Electric Factory itself

I'd say anything under 8-10k or so to be mid-size. Carnegie Hall is definitely mid-size in terms of capacity -- that doesn't mean it's not the mecca for certain types of performances.

For some things, a place like Radio City (6k) is as big as you'd get because certain types of performances aren't done in stadiums and the like. I'm really referring to "mainstream" music (i.e. rock, country, rap, etc.) where you have:

Football Stadiums
Baseball Stadiums
Outdoor Amphitheater
Arenas
Mid-Size (most indoor) venues
Small/Bars

This makes me sad -- so many good nights there. I submitted the name "E-Factory."

There's also the Voltage Lounge around the corner from there too. I hope they stick with an industrial themed name.

I must be really old. Bob Dylan is the only name I recognize.
