Yes, Nutter spoke "the King's English" but that shouldn't matter. If one thing recent times have shown, it's that voters will choose plain-spoken people because 1) they're more relatable and/or 2) their goals are more aligned than that of other candidates.

Edit to add: I looked up a random video of her speaking on YouTube. While she definitely sounds like she's from Philadelphia - as does current Mayor Kenney - I don't hear anything concerning about her speech.

Right. That's not what I was talking about, though.

It will be interesting to see if WFP manage to get the two minor party seats. While the progressive movement in the city isn't nearly big enough to elect a Mayor (see Helen Gym's poor performance), I think they could possibly have enough votes. It's going to be the progressives vs. NE Philly for sure.

Hopefully Philadelphia will do the right thing for once and vote to remove the strangle hold the democrats have on this city. The one party rule has ruined Philadelphia.

I sure hope not. WFP's policy proposals would be disastrous for Philly. A wealth tax in the nation's poorest big city that's already having trouble attracting biz/residents? Rent control? I don't think we have to worry about these things happening even if they are elected, but the fundamental cluelessness they have is enough to make me hope they don't gain any power at city hall.

Right. Because the Re-pubics have just killed it in red cities.

You want Philly to vote for a Republican mayor? LOL, there is no chance in hell that will happen. David Oh is not a great candidate. He has pretty serious ethics issues relating to both his business dealings and time on council. The Republicans would need a movement candidate with no major issues to have even an outside shot at it, and Oh ain't it. Not only that, Cherelle Parker isn't a soft-on-crime ultra-progressive Soros candidate, either. It seems like the black community in the city is waking up to the need to balance a strong police force to keep order in the neighborhood with the need to stem police abuses. The pendulum had swung too far in one direction and it may be swinging back (within the Democratic party...). I'm actually pretty optimistic about Parker's mayoral term, especially in light of the feckless Kenny leaving.

At least I can admit both parties stink. Can you?

The Dims are the scarier of the two and the party that dragged down Philadelphia. That's all that matters to me as a resident.

The GOP isn’t just a dead party in Philly, but going off tonight’s results, a dead political party all across the US. Got crushed everywhere.
