Apollo Group threatens move after veto | Phoenix Business Journal

Apollo Group, who owns University of Phoenix, is thretening to move it's HQ and employees (all or part of 13,000) out of state after Gov. Brewer veto'd a bill that would have benefited the company. Brewer said that the the bill would have impacted the state's already tight finances.

That's fine and all...but how does she think losing a HQ and 13,000 employees would affect the state? The bill passed through the house, so apparently other people in the legislature thought it was a good idea...but not her.

It passed unanimously in the legislature. Sounds like Brewer knows she is going to be overridden and just wants to put on some defender of the budget face here.

I’m starting to hear an echo in the valley with all the empty buildings, offices and commercial stores becoming vacant now that Arizona has made the news with their budget problems and how they address issues in our society. The national, local, and state news isn’t always as favorable as one would like to see for the future of the state and the people living here. I can understand why businesses move away, close or don’t come here at all. Bad news stories at the local level for the city of Phoenix, the county and the state seem to never end now.

The future for blue collar people in Arizona is getting flushed down the toilet. Thanks Arpaio, Pearce, and Brewer.

^^ It's not just the blue collar it effects everyone in the state. These people fail to see what they are doing.

You're right. They are all moving to Scottsdale.

I don't get it.

Brewer and her gang are always talking about tax cuts to help "business". Some companies received good deals. What's the matter with the University of Phoenix?

Could it be that that U of P didn't cut her a check in the form of a campaign contribution?

Why is this woman, and the rest of her pals, always opening their mouth and inserting foot?

That crew they have running the legislature and Brewer have generated a lot of bad publicity for AZ nationwide. It's starting to get aggravating.

Indeed. If the state lost 13K jobs, that would be 13K less taxpayers and residents. The state and cities would be in a deeper hole.

I have to wonder if she was drunk when she did the math.
