I will be moving in a few months and I wanted a job as soon as i got there. well close to it anyway. Would I be looking at supermarket, fast food, or call center??? Just a few I could think of right off hand. I have a savings but I wanted a job so that I could work while I figure out what to do and then tackle the career job.
Here in Ky there are no jobs. Only types we have here are call-center (2 companies), 4 factory jobs, 5 small supermarket and about 6 fast food. I live in a small town. Very small town.
Just wanted to know what I might have to gear up for, job wise? I have call center experience only. I will work whatever though since I do not ever want to come back to KY. Land of the losers and non-ambitious people. I'm done! I want to make something of my life, own an awesome house and be comfortable financially.
Thanks in advance.

I see now hiring signs everywhere!!! I have heard of many companies who can't even find people to hire. I thought the job market was bad, but it doesn't "look it" to me (I know it depends on the industry). Anyway, every fast food place I go to seems to be hiring. You can try temp agencies, too. No clue about call centers.

What part of the valley are you looking at moving to??

where ever i can find a decent job that pays rent. i do not want to spend all my savings just trying to make it out there. i'm really not picky. i will do whatever job. i have a good amt of money but want to keep it as my starter for a down paymt on a house in a few yrs. Hense, not dip into savings.

all help is appreciated, what area do u suggest. i really have not decided what area since i will go wherever i get a job. i stayed in phx at clarendon hotel 2 yrs ago and loved it there. everything was everywhere.

IKEA Tempe is hiring. Many workers there end up finding friends and able to pool resources together and share housing and living expenses.

The phx metro area is HUGE!!!!!! I live in the NE valley, spent a couple years in central phx, so it's hard to say where to look. Compared to what you described with just a few places to work, think of that amount of places in just ONE intersection of PHX. Now multiply that by a thousand.

Basically, what are you looking to pay for rent? That might help with the search.

You are going to have to find the job first, or start with a very short term rental while you find work, which is going to require you to dip into a little bit of your savings. A job search here would be very different than anywhere in Kentucky, because of the sheer size of the area both in terms of square miles and population. It's really impossible to give you much guidance on where to live until you find work.

Thank you for the wisdom. I hope it is easy to find work. You are so right. here in KY besides factory (cannot do bc of my car accident) there really is nt much.I just fear that there will be no jobs out there and i will have to move back to ky and i would die before i go back to KY. I am not kidding either. ky sucks. i cannot wait until i get to az and start stuff rolling for my future and my life. i do thank everyone for helping me. i have no idea what i would have done without the wisdom from you and everyone else. i try to help outers out the best i can when i am dealt a question but i just know nothing about az.
do not think i want to move in warm weather bc of the heat. its best to ease into the heat. haha. i am working on taking care of the business that needs to be done and prob around aug or sept i will be packing up.

i was actually looking at maybe 400.00 on rent. i will look on craigslist for shared/room housing. think that might be the best thing. however starting out when i get there after 5 days of driving i will prob stay at a hotel. i want some roommates to help me know the area or i'd never leave my place. i tend to get lost.
i live in a small ass town in ky and if u take out the 4 small factories that have about 300 jobs each there might be about 500 jobs for everyone else. and u wonder y i have unemployment. there are not enough jobs here for more than half the population. hense that is y i am moving to a bigger area. i have a small amt of money saved for the move just got to find a job so that i do not have to use it. my car has been running good for too long, if u know what i mean. it costs a fortune to fix too.
i just do not want to move back to ky. land of the no opportunity. just got to have a job when i move there. didnt want to get there anad be jobless like here.
thanks for ur help.
