Wow! Thanks for the help with that azdr0710, much appreciated! The building about 2 blocks south of the ACC is the one I had meant. There was no address however as there is no actual road access; you must drive to the back of the ACC and continue on the dirt path to the old building. The reason I thought the old house was a church was because a friend of mine actually lived in that building several years ago (as a child) and was told that it was used as a church prior to that. We checked it out and found a rather interesting inscription in a slab of concrete adjacent to the house which seems to read "danny 1943 carlitos". I will attach an image. The layout from the ground makes the place seem more like a church compound with the stage to the northeast of the actual building and what we gathered to be old concrete drinking bins for horses lining the edges of where the old fence line runs. Any ideas to explain this old inscription??? The building is completely boarded up now btw and seems to have been left alone for some time now, at least about 10 years, given my friend was there sometimes around 2000-2002.

I wondered if anyone remembers the popcorn vending machines that used to be on several downtown Phoenix street corners? I think they had a light in them to keep the popcorn warm. A small paper bag was available to put the popcorn in when purchased.

Those machines are exactly the type. I've always wanted one and have seen several in the last few years but the clear plastic dome has always been broken. My parents thought they were unsanitary so we never did get to try any of that popcorn.

Does anyone recollect a racetrack (?), that was located on E. McDowell Road in Scottsdale, on land on the east side of what is now the greenbelt of the Indian Bend Wash.
One could rent a go-cart and have at it on an oval eight track.
Yes - I remember it. I remember wrecking my go-cart, but for the life of me I can't remember the name of it.

That sculpture now resides in the parking lot of the Burton Barr Library on Central.

necker knobs AKA as sucide knobs were those spinner knobs that clamped on to the steering wheel. I think they are illegal now a days!
