While all well-meaning- I don't think the OP asked for input as to whether it's nice to move here. I moved to AZ from NJ in '93 because i too was tired of the rat race - I was in IT and got a great job here back then - and loved living here but it did get to me for some of those posters reasons but that was in 2000... moved around and back to NJ and guess where I am now - yep back in AZ since 2013 and I have a renewed appreciation for it and love it - plenty of diversity, plenty of socializing, friendly neighbors, etc. so ?? it's up to you - to make the friends and go out and socialize people won't knock on your doors.... inasfar as work ?? I can't help you there - however, the big companies like Intel and Honeywell are reducing their workforce. Here's my suggestion - ieave your family in NJ and give your self 3-6mos to make a go of it here - rent a month to month while getting a job and figuring out the areas - and then if it works out bring them out - otherwise just moving everyone here will be costly - you won't be as flexible and will accept the first job opp which may not be the best one for you - that's my 2 cents!
