Noticed the Walmart Superstore by Happy Valley Rd. and 23rd ave. How many of you go food shopping at Walmart? How does it compare to other grocery stores like Fry's, Abertsons, safeway etc.? What is the closests grocery store (other than Walmart) from Happy Valley and I-17.

I shop Walmart for food. It can be significantly cheaper on canned goods, bread, and packaged items. I get meat from Costco or Sams Club or Frys. Walmart meat sucks since they laid off the butchers and went to stuff prepackaged by illegals in Kansas or somewhere. They never have sales on meat so you can shop the ads at the regular grocers on that and produce. But you will not beat them on the canned goods etc. It's also kind of nice going there because you can buy just about anything else there too. Doesn't bother me who else shops there. I'm not moving in.

I can't stand shopping at Wal-Mart, for groceries or anything else. I usually go to Fry's since there is one right by my house at 67th Ave and Happy Valley Rd. Safeway is also good as are Costco and Sam's Club for bulk things.

It's usually a lot cheaper at Walmart, but I pay more for a more pleasant experience.

There's many more stores 10-20 miles away, especially for organic. But they're a lot more expensive. Costco and Sam's club are great for bulk shopping. If I had a family I would definitely shop there more.

As a Jew, I don't like walmart because they don't have sales. I wanna get the good deal. Screw average lower prices. If it's on sale, I stock up.

Thanks everyone, now I just need to find the nearest Costco. Can you get gas @ Costco and is it cheaper?

I believe the nearest Costco is at I-17 and Yorkshire and yes they sell gas and it's a few cents cheaper.

Anyone been here long enough to remember Smitty's? That was a good store! Especially the 10 cent "Icee's"....alright, so that was 1967 but it was still a good store!

Walmart for everything except meat; Basha's for rib-eyes. Hamburger anywhere it's on sale.

Yep, I loved Smitty's! I worked my first job as a waitress in their restaurant when I was 16 (the one at Tatum/Shea). I made about $10/night IF I was lucky! Oh it sucked!

Lucky's was my store. And the "rich" shopped at Alpha-Beta.
