That's what's been blowing my mind this whole time - I keep seeing every article out there talk about $6/month. Where is that coming from - aside from something someone at APS told a reporter.
Yes, I realized that and changed my post. And you are right, there is not a single source that I can find that talks about changes in the rate amounts. It's all solar-this and solar-that reporting. The six bucks they talk about applies only to homes using less than 600 kw too. How many can that be? For the 90% who use more than 1000, the increase is going to be a lot more.

The other thing I reiterate is that customers have no info from APS about changes. It supposedly takes place Saturday, but then you read that there are several months available to "transition" to a new plan. So are the new off peak hours right now or not?

The rate increase takes place Saturday - the new plans do not.

So breakdown...

Currently there are 3 major plans available - Standard, Time Advantage Noon - 7PM and Combined Advantage Noon - 7PM.
These current PLANS are reminding in place...as in, the structure of the plan (time of use times), but the RATES on these plans are going up Saturday.

That's part 1.

Part 2 is that there are new rate plans being introduced starting Saturday. If you call say on Sunday to APS and want to switch from your current plan, only the new plans will be available to choose from. This would come into play of say someone moving into a new house this weekend and they call APS to set up service, they would have to choose from a new plan.

Customers that are not moving and are on a current plan will stay on that plan (but with higher rates), until APS transitions them to one of the new rate plans over the next 8 months. All customers will be transitioned to the new plans between Sept 2017 and May 2015 (except solar customer who are grandfathered to today's plans for 20 years).

...and I wonder why I work 15 hours per day.

Yeah, the $6/mo thing is pure bull. The only people getting the $6 /mo bump are going to be people in 1 bedroom apartments & snowbirds that aren't here & set their homes to 85 degrees.. Everyone else is getting a much bigger present from the corporation commission.

By the way, the "old" plans, as in the current ones...are all also going up on Saturday. How much? No one knows! APS literally got a blank check from the A.C.C. The A.C.C. approved the rate hike, without actually knowing what the new rates are (for the "old" plans). Apparently APS has until Friday this week to post up the new "old" rate increases.
The biggest joke in history - how Arizona "regulates" its public utilities. We approve anything...
"You can rise your rates tomorrow, but you don't need to tell your customers by how much."

I mean...regulating is not socialist. But if the State of Arizona owns it's public utilities that services the entire state, that'd be socialist and that can't happen because socialism doesn't work.

It's the best of both worlds for APS: they have a monopoly and the regulators in their pocket. Like the socialists of old could only dream of.

Yup, APS has updated their site with the new plans, and pricing of the old plans. The old plans, which you stay on until APS moves you to a new plan between now and May 1st, went up about 16% across the board, both daily service changes and kWh rates.

I guess the only people who made out was anyone who bought solar prior to the rate change they are grandfathered in for 20 years. The solar industry settled with APS they got what they wanted everyone complains about the rates but most people will just pay it.

Is this going to make my SRP (Water and Electric) home more valuable for resale? SRP has increases from time to time that don't even have to be rubber stamped by the ACC. I'm too old to build and move into a styrofoam house at this point. It seems to me that SRP took a tough approach to solar power before APS did.
