I certainly do not wish to retire here. Interesting no where in Florida made the list. For most tri-state people, Boca Raton is very popular.

I moved here 7 years ago from Boca Raton because of hurricanes and humidity among other factors.
I would never dream of going back, no way. Arizona is wonderful.

First of all, your post says that those are the most populous, in order - so that undermines the "best" right there. Second, having seen a similar magazine, they seem like worthless fluff publications. In the same way, it's meaningless that the Republic mentioned it. Third, it would seem to me that any place that was so dependent on cars would be ipso facto a bad place to retire.

Read it carefully. It does not say Phoenix is number 1. The list is of the 10 most populous cities, in order from largest to smallest that are in the 100 best cities. So Phoenix is the largest of the 100, but its rank as far as being best is NOT number one.

" and I would give it 1st place recognition. I have to say it is the nicest place I have ever lived. Nothing in the article indicates it is not the 1st place winner. Based on the current polling I think the majority agree that it is a wonderful place to liveThere are 19355 cities in the US and it is pretty cool that Phoenix area is on the top 100 listThese cities were not even on the list New York, New York (pop 8,213,839)Los Angeles, California (pop 3,794,640)

On a side note
Prescott, Mesa and Tucson are also on the "FORBES best places to retire list" so we see a nice pattern here for Arizona.
