Well Pinda,
At least you had the opportunity to escape the cold, snow, and gloom for one winter...you both could always become snowbirds one day...

I lived in the Phoenix area for nearly six years and did love my exploration of the entire state...However, I left there in 1999 to move to Florida...and while I miss many things about AZ, I have no real regrets. This July will be 10 whole years here.

If you and your husband ever decide on Florida, look into the Treasure Coast...which includes Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River Counties...not too congested like further south or Orlando orTampa, but close enough to get to where you want...It is funny, even in the condo complex that I live in now, I know many from the upper midwest (esp WI and MI).

I realized I missed the greenery, the trees, the rain, and the ocean...the humidity during the summer is a drag, but it beats gloom and snow, huh. I am an RN and think that one day I may do some more travelling through an agency and spend a little more time out west. I want to explore CO and the PNW (esp the Oregon coast).

Pinda, I agree 1000% with you...AZ (esp PHX area) is nice and all, but the sameness, the congestion, the browness, the dryness...it iwas sometimes difficult to put your finger on...I loved my time there, BUT I just knew that it would not be my permanent home. I do find the people very friendly in this part of FL...I am happy here.

Good luck in wherever you decide.

That's because of the lack of dissolved oxygen which is a problem near the shoreline. Plenty of people eat fish out of Lake Erie and don't even know it.

Everyone cannot live in the Arizona desert, but it is more than just the sunshine. The people have more rights than most and the natural beauty to the naked eye is something I will never get enough of ,at all.
Well,maybe it is the sunshine.
