Default Mesa?

I found an apartment in Mesa, zip 85201. It appears to be a better area. Anyone care to comment or share experience? Thanks.

Hi.
I don't know much about Mesa but when my husband and I were moving to AZ, we were told not to live/look for places in the Mesa area. People claim its not that great and I have been to Mesa, and it's not terrible, but I admit that I am glad I didn't move there...

Why do people say Mesa is so bad, when there are really high-end parts of Mesa? It is not all that bad.

When people say Mesa is bad they are referring to the section arouns downtown Mesa. this area is over run by Illegal Aliens, biker gangs, and tweekers. If you goto East Mesa near Supersitions Springs mall then you will mostly run into snowbirds.

Most of Mesa is pretty gross. From the 60 to McKellips, the 101 to Lindsay - miles and miles of ehhhhh. It does clean up the further east you go, but then you're sandwiched between crap and Apache Junction. If I were to pick a neighborhood in Mesa, I might live near Dobson Ranch. At least you're close to Tempe.

I don't venture into Mesa very much at all. However, it's Arizona's third largest city with a population of just under a half million. Being as large & spread out as it is, it certainly has its good areas & less than desirable areas. Personally, I don't really see much of an advantage to living in Mesa because it's more or less a huge, oversized bedrroom community of Phoenix with not much going on. Then again, if a half million residents call Mesa home, there must be something advantageous about living there. Maybe somebody could enlighten me about the benefits of Mesa.

We have friends who live in a country club setting in Mesa, near Superstition Springs Mall, their home was about $800,000. and it is beautiful. They moved from Dallas and love it there.

You might check Zillow.com on that $800k investment in Mesa now. Spend that money closer in in Tempe or Scottsdale.

Depends on where you are. West and central Mesa isn't so great (Country Club Drive is one of the ugliest strips of commercial development in Arizona), but east Mesa is nice...just boring.

Mesa is HUGE. I agree with most of the previous posts. West is a mess. As are parts of Central. Just go to the Mesa website and check the crime statistics.
I find too much of Mesa has trailer park and low rent communities sandwiched in between nice subdivisions. I think the city zoning committee needs to be shot.
East Mesa is a lot better and newer.
