My husband and I are looking to move out of Minnesota. We have been looking at houses in Gilbert. Any information and personal opinions on this city would be appreciated!

I'm guessing when you put Gilbert in the search engine here nothing helpful came up?

Seriously, there are a lot of current and very recent threads about Gilbert. Use the search button, click on advanced search so that you can narrow the search to the Phoenix area forum, put in Gilbert, and see what you find. After you've read those threads, if you have specific questions that those threads don't cover, ask away!!!

Gilbert is awesome. :-) But then again I'm biased. Seriously.. I really can't think of any negatives of living here. I'm near Lindsay and Baseline, so really close to the highway and schools, shopping, etc. I love it! Feel free to message me if you want specifics about any of the neighborhoods or just general questions about the area.

Gilbert is a conservative, family oriented town, and a great place to raise a family.

The schools are very good, and up until now, the classes were small, with under 20 kids. With the teacher cut, the sizes will probably increase.

There are plenty of shopping areas around. You don't have to drive far to find one. The Dana Park is a small neat center that is actually in Mesa at Baseline where the dividing line is.

There is the new San Tan Mall near 202 and Greenfield. And of course Gilbert is not far from the Chandler Fashion mall and other great areas.

There are plenty of good restaurants in the area, some are chains, and there are some good mom and pop restaurants also.

Gilbert has several lake communities, one of the communities has a ski lake. And there are several golf communities. And of course there are many communities that don't have the lake or golf amenities, but are just nice communities in which to live.

Gilbert has two new hospitals. One has a large state of the art pediatric unit where the kids are treated so well they don't want to go home. Their rooms are their "safe havens", in that they do not receive any shots or treatments in their rooms.

That same hospital is going to add the notable Andy Anderson cancer treatment center. Construction will begin late 2009 and complete in 2010.

Here is some information about the Town of Gilbert. Gilbert is also home to one of America's Best Dog Parks!

Also, we don't have mosquito's like they do in Minnesota.

Skip it. Look for a house in Chandler instead.

To be entirely fair, NO PLACE in metro Phoenix (or perhaps the whole state of AZ) has mosquitos like Minnesota. It's not just Gilbert.

I wouldn't limit myself to Gilbert, either. I'd look in Chandler, Tempe, parts of Mesa. There are nice areas in the many suburbs to the west side of Phoenix as well. You should come out and take a look around.
