Thanks for all the advice! I've always felt safer not living on the ground floor. I lived on the ground floor while in college for 2 years and no one messed with me, however at the time I was the RA and in charge of the floor. It doesn't sound like it's worth paying an extra $20-$30 a month. I was looking at a complex off of 83rd, however I just decided on a place off of 99th, just west of the stadiums instead. They have a 2BR second floor apt on the golfcourse, for around $800ish, with 2 basketball courts and a place to go shoot pool, so I'm thinkin' that it'll work out well. I'm moving in less than 2 weeks!

That's great! I wish you the best of luck in your new place.

I just realized no one had commented on scorpion, etc being a concern for dogs or not, anyone?
A friend of mine who moved down there recently told me that her cat was a concern for her but she found out the cat were invulnerable to scorpion's poison or at least it wouldnt be leathal to them. How about dogs? I know the dog (puppy) I am going to get is going to be young, hyper and stupid enough to mess with whatever moves around it and get stung so I am worried!!

Do a search for scorpions and you will find PLENTY of info. I just don't want to go down this road again! Too much trouble.

I did but couldn't find anything about the threat factor for pets!

I am not worried for myself, I could care less since a scorpion would poisoning itself my stinging me! But I would hate to come home and find my puppy all messed up or even dead.
