Pittsburgh isn't the world's best tourist-y city at the moment, but it's absolutely wonderful if you come to visit an insider friend who can take you to all the cool spots. It has future potential though, and even as it stands, could be made into a long weekend if you throw in side trips like Fallingwater or Ohiopyle Park.

Based on your posts in this thread, it seems you are taking this too seriously and care too much.

And, as many have said, sure were not an hour or 2 from NYC, but then again, we don't need to travel away from our city to have a good time
I would definitely disagree with that. Even people I know from Pittsburgh that really enjoy it as a city would admit that there is more to in Philadelphia, although being three times as populated makes that easier. South Street is fine, but that isn't exactly the hippest part of town (most of the food is lame, and there are very few hot bars there; are you under the impression that it's the main drag?). I don't know what you mean about sports arenas being newer. Citizens Bank Park and Lincoln Financial Field are 9 and 10 years old respectively, and Wells Fargo Center was completed in 1996. I don't see your point with that. And most Philadelphians NEVER go to New York. I think, again, you are laboring under a misapprehension. Perhaps the biggest problem with Philadelphia is the provincialism; most people don't know or care what is going on in New York, DC, Western PA, or anywhere outside of the Delaware Valley. I knew many people who never traveled anywhere but the Jersey Shore, Maryland, and (occasionally) Florida. If they did, it probably had something to do with work or sports. You seem highly unaware of Philadelphian culture and attitudes.

Dear god, what a stupid list. I hope it was supposed to be satirical, the only actual reasons on it were 10 and 2. Even then, 2's not always true depending on where you area in which city.

I HATE cheese whiz and it will never be on any cheesesteak that I eat. I prefer provolone.

I've been to Boston several times and I actually think it's better than Philly and Pittsburgh combined. However, the cost of rentals and housing is high..............just a few notches below NYC.

boston is a bit sterile but it's attractive. I get the feeling some people (curtis) haven't travelled in some time. I met a guy who HATED philly. "why would anyone want to go there?" turns out he visited in the late 70's and hated it yet felt the need to tell other people not to go there (what else would you expect from a DC resident). there are things to like about boston, and things to like about philly (oddly, one of my friends from boston complained that philly was too artsy) be it food, history, most walkable, or museums. there are things to like a about pittsburgh as well. people should spend less time mindlessly trashing other places based on vague impressions and more time travelling. I suspect these poorly thought out lists were just to agitate before the pens-flyers game rather than anything else.

Copy that. I've had great times in Boston and Philly, great towns. Likewise Baltimore and DC.

But I think we can all agree that Cleveland sucks.
