Plus you can't enforce traffic laws without licenses and tags.
Nobody is pushing for registration of bicycles except for eternally mad at issue dujour curmudgeons. This is a non-issue because it is never going to happen here. If the state chases revenue from moving violations it stands to make infinitely more by enforcing the laws targeting motor vehicles. The miniscule amount of money to be collected in fines from cycling would not offset the money that was wasted on creating the unnecessary registrations and laws to register bikes.

Yes. It's really just comes off as nothing but bitterness at somebody else not being as bound to a hugely expensive form of transportation as you are.

Furthermore, almost everybody I know who is an avid cyclist, is also a licensed driver that has a vehicle that is registered with the state. I know there are crusty punk bikers out there who ride as a primary form of transportation, but their numbers are much smaller I'd be willing to bet. This is just a ludicrous form of bad will from pissed off drivers who have no control over their emotions. You'll get to your destination a fraction of a second longer because you had to wait to pass a bike in town, get over it! Oh you poor thing, you had to give a bike 4 feet of room today! Thank dog these people are literally dying off (obesity, hypertension and heart disease) and the attitudes towards change in this city is starting to turn around.

No idea why someone would be bitter at someone riding a bike or even that they're saving $$$ to do so. Anyone that can afford a vehicle can certainly afford a bicycle. Most don't consider a vehicle a "hugely expensive form of transportation ".

Thinking the government won't do something to make additional $$$ is not reality. Nobody thought atv's would ever be licensed and insured, either.

For what it's worth, the money would also come from registration not just fines. And it wouldn't be money that's wasted, it would be money that could be used to either offset or defray the costs of new bike infrastructure, etc.

Wow, the amount of self-righteousness that exists in the bicycle evangelists never ceases to amaze me.

Joggers should be licensed and insured. They fly down sidewalks without regard for slower pedestrians, wearing earbuds and not stopping at stop signs. Dangerous, I tell you.

Two responses to my post, I must have struck a chord. I'm no evangelist I am a realist, it's not going to happen and you know it. So why waste time or rehashing the stupid idea over and over? If somebody said it'd be a good idea to register people on those scooter chairs I'd have the same response. Because I'm not an idiot and I see things for what they are.

I don't even ride a bike. I have one, but only because somebody gave it to me but I don't think I've ridden that bike ever.

I'll also note that what amazes me, and why I've hidden several people, is because they make exactly the same points without ever bringing any supporting evidence to the table.

Yep, it seems they have google alerts set for these things. Always the same song. The ignore list is a wonderful thing.
