I have left a job before and then a month or two later some of my complaints got addressed because they were afraid some of my former coworkers would also leave. Granted these big ride sharing apps aren't going to do that over one driver leaving, but if enough drivers leave then they will be forced to make changes.

Sorry, but this is a false choice....You don't need to spend $400/month on a car in order for it to be reliable.

I delivered pizzas in my 20's for about 8 years and I don't think I ever spent more than $1,000 for a car. They didn't look great and didn't have all the latest features ,but they did the job just fine.

Using a brand new, financed car for delivery you'll never get ahead. I'm honestly not trying to be mean....but that's not a winning formula.

The positions themselves were ever created for a particular type of person or situation in mind. I mean it's not like McDonalds corporate said "Let's make a job for high school kids". They simply discovered that they can fill the position for the rate that they pay. If people wouldn't take the work, then they'd be forced to pay more in order to fill it.

So there's 10 years to work with. Certainly shouldn't be an issue.

Show me a reliable 2006 or newer model year car for $1,000.

I didn't say anything about a 2006 or newer vehicle for $1000. I said finding something 10 years or newer shouldn't be an issue...and a 2006 or newer reliable vehicle, depending on the model, can easily be had for less than $400/month in a reasonable loan length.

subtract $1 or so for safe rider fee, then take 20% off that. the left over is what that driver made.

hey i made good money back then driving part-time. i made in a weekend what id make in retail, and even then made more than retail (i averaged 15/hr after factoring in expenses. 22/hr before).

now? id be lucky to make 7-8/hr. tons more drivers out there, market isnt getting bigger and lower rates while uber takes more of the pie.

i had fun driving, but at these low rates the clientele arent exactly the ones you want. see people getting shot up and robbed.
