Duck's best game so far has been like 200 yards and 1 TD/1 INT or 150 yards and 1 TD, our D has been winning games and he has been doing enough to not lose it for us. At least Mason seems to have some nice arm strength to stretch the D.
You’re judging him on being the best he can be after playing against the 3rd best defense in the league?

Had the Stillers defense had more than only 1 sack and 4 qb hits, there’s a very good chance the Stillers win that game.

Other than arm strength, what has Rudolph shown to make it look like he has higher upside?

I think they’re both eventual backups, but right now I have more faith in Duck than Rudolph.

No I am basing it off his overall physical skills, partially what I have seen and many I know who followed him throughout his HS and Samford times as they ran in the same circles in the Birmingham area. I'd love for him to overachieve and be a great story but I don't see the raw traits in him. Rudolph has the size, likely better durability, better arm. He also faced and succeeded against a higher level of competition throughout college. I'm not saying Mason is the answer but I think he just has a little more upside than duck potentially, he may never realize it though.

Interesting. I’d like to know more about these skills.

I don’t buy so much into the size factor. Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, Jamarcus Russell, etc..., just to name a few out of 100’s of qb’s, and many being Heisman trophy winners that failed miserably as starters, while having size and playing against some of the best college competition in the country.

He’s definitely not realizing it now, has multiple years in the Stillers system while playing/practicing alongside a future HOF qb.

Yes, having the traits does not mean success but not having them does make it very hard to be great. He could end up being the next Brees but most of what I am basing it off are those than have watched him his entire career. He's done nothing to impress me, at least Mason had a few spurts where I thought maybe he could be decent (then he'd make some poor throws and change my mind).

Neither of them are impressive, but Rudolph looks more of like a scared deer in the headlights without a clue of what to do.

Duck doesn't have the arm strength to be a gunslinger.

And he like Rudolph aren’t going to be top qb’s unless something drastically changes in their development, but who says qb’s have to be gunslingers?

Lots of strong armed qb’s have failed miserably in the NFL.

Tomlin just stated in his Press Conference today that he is starting Duck.

Tomlin said that he is is starting Duck against the Jets to give him a chance to learn and grow from Sunday. He said it’s reasonable for a young man to improve with more exposure.

He said Mason had the same opportunity after he did not take care of the ball in Cleveland & he gave Mason another opportunity in Cincinnati before he had Duck step in. He is giving Duck the same opportunity.

Guess we were just watching the same show. You’re always on top of things!

Do you imagine that Tomlin might pull Duck by the 2nd half & put Mason in if Duck doesn’t ‘take care of the ball’?
