figures you would defend BP instead of Americans! I bet you would be singing a different tune if this massive oil spill was on the shores of Lake Michigan and ruining Chicago.
The rightwingers in here are insane.Wait until the comments from Barton, Bachmann, Rush and others on the right defending BP come back to haunt them at election time!

Yes, and we also know BP has donated more to the GOP than the Democrats in every single election cycle.

And so, apparently did many others:

"Bonner (R-Ala.) stopped short of calling for Barton to step aside as ranking member of the Energy and Commerce committee, but did demand that Barton "retract" his comments.

“I am stunned at the insensitivity of Rep. Barton’s remarks which completely ignores the enormity of the crisis facing the entire Gulf community, not to mention BP’s obvious culpability in contributing to this ecological disaster,†Bonner wrote later Thursday afternoon in a statement."

Holy crow! The the liars on this forum! They screamed Obama wasn't doing enough to BP and now they want to slam him for making them pay for the damages. Are any of them aware that he broke with the Dems on the liability cap issue?

Good grief.

Joe Barton is 100% correct, it is an Obama "shakedown." A tactic Obama regularly used as Community Organizer with ACORN. Rep. Barton should have gone further, Obama is violating the law - specifically, 18 USC §872. It is a felony to attempt to obtain from someone, or some corporation, through force, intimidation, or undue or illegal power.

Quote:
Whoever, being an officer, or employee of the United States or any department or agency thereof, or representing himself to be or assuming to act as such, under color or pretense of office or employment commits or attempts an act of extortion, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both; but if the amount so extorted or demanded does not exceed $1,000, he shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

Source: 18 USC §872
First and foremost, everyone (including corporations) is entitled to "due process" which Obama has denied BP. Second, 33 USC §2704 limits liability to the clean-up costs plus $75 million for off-shore facilities, unless it is proven in a court of law that criminal negligence was involved.

Obama has now given the House grounds to begin impeachment hearings. Since Democrats clearly are not interested in upholding the rule of law, this will obviously have to wait until after November.

Bills? As in insurance premiums? Well, now is the time to pay the bills... for the mess its facility has created. And, please, do not try this at home... unless you have lobbyists writing laws to favor you.

LOL. Care to quote that law verbatim here, along with that insurance premium that must go with it? Or, is this yet another case of that "conservative"... Capitalize Profits, Socialize Losses rhetoric?

The right should be ashamed of this heartless man and anyone else who thinks the President is not doing all to help the people of this great nation. Great post.

Oh please Obama got a paltry $74,000 from BP! A drop in the bucket compared to the tens of millions he raised during his campaign! I bet if this spill happened under the Bush & Cheney cabal they would have let BP off the hook at the $75 million cap! Which was legislated way before he came into office!
BP was not "shaken down" either but your hatred for Obama runs so deep you would rather see Obama impeached & save a scumbag corporation like BP!
Way to go Pukes! This issue will resurface during the elections!
